40 Days For Life Begins Today

For the next 40 days, pro-life citizens in six countries and 49 states, including North Carolina, will take part in “the largest and longest internationally coordinated pro-life mobilization in history”40 Days for Life. The semi-annual campaign, which begins today, seeks “to bring together the body of Christ in a spirit of unity during a focused 40-day campaign of prayer, fasting, and peaceful activism, with the purpose of repentance, to seek God’s favor to turn hearts and minds from a culture of death to a culture of life, thus bringing an end to abortion in America.” Pro-lifers will gather at 316 abortion provider locations worldwide through November 4.
This is the 10th 40 Days for Life campaign since 2007. In that time, nearly 2,000 individual campaigns, consisting of more than 525,000 participants, have taken place in 400 cities in 15 countries. According to 40 Days for Life, the fruits of the campaign’s peaceful efforts to bring about an end to abortion through prayer, fasting, constant vigil, and community outreach include:
- 5,928 lives spared from abortion;
- 69 abortion workers quitting their jobs to leave the industry;
- 24 abortion facilities shutting down.
Campaigns will be conducted at five locations in North Carolinatwo in Charlotte and one each in Greensboro, Raleigh, and Winston-Salem. Details on these locations and their vigil schedules can be found here.
